Bollington youth Group - Youth support Bollington

Bollington Youth Group

Bollington Youth Group (BYG) has been established to engage, inspire and develop the youth of Bollington and our surrounding area, dedicated to 8-11 and 11-18 age groups.

Our Vision

Through the provision of a wide range of high-quality activities in a safe and nurturing environment, we will broaden the experiences, interests and ambitions of our youth, build their confidence, enhance their opportunities and improve their health and wellbeing, enabling each participant to be the very best versions of themselves that they can be as they transition into adulthood.

BYG will be managed and led by paid professionals on formal contracts, with the Senior Youth Group Leader acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.  Paid professionals will be supported by volunteers, all of whom will receive safeguarding training.  Volunteers will be expected to serve for a minimum of 12-months in recognition of the training that they receive.

We want to establish an essential community-service that will become an enduring legacy, available to each new generation of Bollingtonians that will have a real positive social impact that will enrich the prospects of all our members, particularly those that are disadvantaged or vulnerable.

Our Services

We hope to run a pilot service one or two nights a week starting in the autumn and are in negotiation with possible venues.  Long-term, it is envisaged that we will provide additional activities across several weekends a year, particularly during school holidays.

We have the results of a survey of the views of local young people on what they would like to see in the way of activities. These include:

About us

We are the Advisory Group on Youth Services in Bollington, staff by local volunteers all based in Bollington.

We have a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) with a board of directors, and active Committee, a bank account and have recently been awarded our first grants.

As Bollington Youth Group, we have been working on proposals to develop a youth service in the town over the last 18 months and have been assisted by the Youth Federation in setting our objectives and achieving out steps so far.

We have established a Community Interest Company (CIC) with a board of directors and an active committee and have recently been awarded our first grants from the Police & Crime Commissioner’s SWAP fund and from the Russell Trust and are actively seeking additional funding to drive our ambitions forward.

As a non-for-profit organisation, all money raised will go towards establishing BYG and providing services for the youth of Bollington and our surrounding villages and districts.

We would welcome your advice on the ways in which the project should further develop.

If you are interested in offering help, we are particularly looking for:

  • anyone with experience in helping with youth activities
  • parents or others without experience willing to volunteer to assist at youth club activities on an occasional basis (training will be available)
  • anyone with experience of running the activities listed by young people in our survey such as cookery courses, games events, martial arts, music lessons, dance, tennis and other sports, Lego, board games etc.
  • sponsors and donors to contribute to our fund-raising activities
  • anyone with thoughts on engaging effectively with young people.
