BOLLINGTON YOUTH GROUP
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
Do we only accept Bollington residents or does it extend to Tytherington, Rainow and Pott Shrigley?
Currently it will be for Bollington youths while we get established.
We may broaden the group eventually.
What is the age range for the groups?
Initially we are starting secondary school age 11 to 18 year olds on a Friday evening.
We are hoping to run a group for primary age 8 till 11 years as soon as possible.
Where can I park at the Life Church?
There is a small carpark that holds up to 10 cars, with a tight fit.
It would be off road where space is available.
Please do not park any higher up than the church itself because of the need to avoid inconveniencing local residents.
Can parents attend the sessions?
Although we do not want to refuse any parents or carers, we feel that we want to build a safe environment for the young people of Bollington. Where they can be themselves, have freedom and can interact in their own space. Giving them a few hours of independence.
How will I identify staff and volunteers?
They will have name badges on.
What arrangements do you have for safeguarding, health and safety and data protection?
We have policies in place to cover all sections needed, and on every session, there will be a designated Safeguarding Lead and a Health and Safety trained staff member.
Who would I contact if I had concerns?
You can speak to the Safeguarding Lead and the Senior Youth Worker on Duty, they will be wearing name badges. You can also email us bollingtonyouthgroup@gmail.com your concerns and someone will contact you to discuss them.
How can I help?
You can help by supporting our sessions and encouraging young people to attend.
If you wish to volunteer please provide your contact details on the contact us and we will be in touch.
Will I have to register as a member before I can attend?
Yes, you will, so that we know who you are and have your contact details for an emergency. You can join online via our website, but if you do not have access to this, we can provide a paper copy.
Will I have to pay to enter?
The entry fee will be a £1 on the day.
Do I have to stay the whole session?
You will have to sign in and out of the session for health and safety reasons.
If you require to leave the session at any point, you will have to sign out and tell a member of staff so we can ensure you are safe.
Do I have to join in the planned session?
If you are not interested in the session theme you do not have to participate, but you can still come to session for a chillout, listen to music, have a drink and socialise. Not all sessions will suit everyone but you are still welcome.
Will there be drinks and snacks?
We will provide you with juice and basic snacks. Feel free to bring your own drinks, as long as they are not alcoholic. We have a zero-tolerance policy of drinking alcohol or drug taking during the session.
Can I bring a friend?
We are asking all young people to complete a membership form, so if your friend does then they will be able to attend with you. They must be a Bollington resident until further notice.
Is there rules?
There is a code of conduct that we expect all members to follow, for your safety and to ensure everyone has fun.
Can I give ideas and feedback?
Yes, we would love that. Suggestions and feedback will help us make the club what you guys want. On each session there will be a suggestion box where you can put your thoughts, otherwise you can speak to a member of the team or email us
